The Art of Blood Letting
Bloodletting is a specialized Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that gently releases small amounts of stagnant blood from specific points on the ears, hands, and targeted areas of the body. This therapy focuses on clearing blockages, improving circulation, and restoring the smooth flow of blood and energy.
Commonly used on:
• Ears (auricular points) – to influence whole-body organ systems through reflex zones
• Hands and fingertips – to open meridian pathways and relieve stagnation
• Targeted body areas – around joints, painful regions, or areas of visible congestion
By stimulating precise points, bloodletting helps reduce inflammation, ease pressure, support vascular health, and encourage the body’s natural detox and healing response. When performed by a trained therapist, the process is safe, controlled, and tailored to your individual needs.
This ancient therapy is ideal for clients experiencing circulation issues, chronic pain, inflammatory conditions, skin congestion, or energetic imbalance.

The Blood Letting Techniques
The first is called the "Spot-Pricking". With this style, a discrete point of spot is bled to relieve a toothache due to excess heat or to treat a sore throat due to excess heat.
The second method is called "Clumping or "Area Pricking Method". With this approach, pinprick motions are made on a relatively large scale to reduce excess heat.
The third type of bleeding is called the "Pinching Method". With this technique, the acupuncture point to be treated in pinched between the thumb and finger. This action isolates the point and promotes venous pooling, which facilitates bleeding.
The fourth type is a technique where the needle is moved in an arc across the acupuncture point and is the flow method of opening the vein.
Ear bleeding treatments are used for heat and excess syndromes, especially clients that hold in emotional trauma as the ears are a microsystem of the body. Visual examination of the ears with photos taken indicate to client congestion held in particular body parts.

Emotional Trauma;
Emotional trauma can be “held” in the body because intense stress or unresolved emotions often get stored in physical tissues, muscles, or energy pathways. The ears, in particular, are sensitive in this regard for a few reasons:
Muscle tension: Trauma can cause tightness in the jaw, neck, and head, which affects the tiny muscles around the ear, sometimes leading to ringing (tinnitus), pressure, or pain.
Energy pathways: In traditional Chinese medicine, the ears are connected to the kidneys and the nervous system, which are linked to fear and stress; unresolved emotional trauma may disrupt this balance.
Nervous system memory: The inner ear has connections to the vestibular system (balance) and the autonomic nervous system. Trauma can heighten sensitivity here, causing dizziness, sensitivity to sound, or a feeling of “fullness.”
In short, unresolved emotional trauma can manifest physically in the ears through tension, nervous system imbalance, and energy disruptions, signaling the body’s attempt to “store” and cope with stress.
